A Message from our School Principal

Dear Parents & Members of Sand Pine Community,

Welcome to Sand Pine Elementary for the 2007-2008 school year. We have had a hectic summer hosting summer school for Sand Pine Elementary and offering our Kindergarten Camp. We also worked to assist Double Branch Elementary with their opening and coordinated the move into our portables for New River Elementary for their temporary sharing of our campus this school year. The great news is that the school year is off to a great start! Surprisingly, It has been one of the smoothest beginnings we have had.

I want to especially thank the PTA for honoring our teachers and staff with a sumptuous “Welcome Back“ breakfast. Open House took place on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, and was held in conjunction with our Fall Book Fair. Both were a huge success. I hope you were able to attend Open House and visit your child’s classroom.

Tuesday evening September 25, 2007, we will be holding “Curriculum Night.” This is a special opportunity to come and learn about the thematic units that are being taught, experience the “Star Lab,” a mini planetarium, and preview activities on the “Smart Boards.” Additional information will be sent home prior to Curriculum Night. Unlike our Open House event, Curriculum Night, is for parents only. Please mark your calendars for this opportunity to learn about our curriculum delivery model.

The Sand Pine Elementary faculty and staff believe that learning is the shared responsibility of the school, the student, the home and the community. With this in mind, I hope you will be encouraged to take an active part in the educational program at Sand Pine Elementary. I look forward to working with you and your child this school year.
