We had a full house at our first Bingo Night & General Assembly Meeting August 27. Lots of families braved the rain and came to test their luck at bingo Friday night. There were lots of happy winners and smiles as several teachers attempted to out eat Mr. Cluff in a pizza-eating contest! Many thanks to Catherine McLain for organizing this event and all our sponsors: First Watch, Beall's, Firestone, Tijuana Flats, Shear Perfection, Bonefish, Big Cat Rescue, MOSI, Punch and Xtreme Adventures! The PTA gave Sand Pine teachers & staff a welcome back breakfast the Friday before kids came back to class! It was well deserved and much appreciated by all! Thanks go to all the volunteers who made all Sand Pine staff feel special! See some pictures here!

Congratulations to our 5th Grade Graduates! The last day of school for 2009-2010 was bittersweet as we "Clapped Out" the graduating 5th grade class as well as Mrs. Yanson, who is retiring after over 40 years in education.
The PTA held the first ever Family
Spaghetti Dinner on Friday, May 21st and what a success it was! The cafeteria buzzed with spaghetti & meatball diners while several kids serenaded us all with That's Amore that they learned in their music classes! The italian ices and pastries were a special treat that didn't go to waste. Many thanks to Sams Club, Cosi and Grillsmith for some yummy donations! See the pictures here!
After over 40 years in education, Ms. Yanson "graduated" into retirement in front of teachers, friends, and colleagues on May 14th. Ms. Yanson has been the only principal Sand Pine Elementary has ever known, and it was apparent at this event how much she is loved. She will be greatly missed, but we wish her all the best in the next chapter of her life. See the pictures here!
The PTA Bingo Night and last General Assembly of the year was held May 7th. The new 2010-11 PTA Board was introduced in a short meeting before all the fun began. There was no shortage of lucky winners that night! Toys-R-Alive, the play about what happens after hours at a toy store was a huge success! The students practiced before & after school for months to prepare, and it showed! Many thanks to all the parents & students who helped put this together, and a special thanks to Mrs. Bidgood along wiith Mrs. Badalementi, Mrs. Cozier and Mrs. Alba who spent hours with the kids practicing! The Walk-A-Thon was a huge success April 1st and all had a blast walking... or rather running around the bus loop in the PTA's Spring fundraiser. Many thanks to all the volunteers that helped make this event happen! See the pictures here!
March 5th MOSI Space Night came to Sand Pine! Several high-powered telescopes were set up on the basketball court, and students with their parents got an up close view of Saturn, the Orion Nebula constellation and more. Plus, Sand Pine students were able to sign their names on a poster which will be brought up into space on a future space mission! See the pictures here!
The PTA's Sweetheart Family Dance was a wonderful experience for all who attended February 5th. The Cha Cha Slide, YMCA, Macarana, and Limbo were just a few of the many dances that kept everyone on the dance floor. See the pictures here!
November 23rd a special BMX Pro Sports show came to Sand Pine. Incredible bicycle stunts were performed in front of the school to all students. Mr. Cluff showed us his bravery and had bikes flying over his head! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this performance. See the pictures here!
Friday October 30th Sand Pine had its annual Halloween Parade. This year's parade did not disappoint the scores of parents and friends who lined up around the bus loop to see the creative costumes our students and staff proudly wore. The teachers gave Ms. Yanson a surprise by all dressing as Ms. Yanson herself! See the pictures here!
Friday October 23rd was our 3rd annual Fall Festival from 6-9pm. This popular event included games such as the Scarecrow Hop and Candy Corn Toss, and activities including a Pumpkin Decorating contest, Hay rides, Face Painting just to name a few. This year's dunk tank was a huge hit! Thanks to all the many volunteers who helped make this such a success. See the pictures here!
Dads' Club lunch brought fathers to Sand Pine October 8th & 9th.
Mr. Cluff was written up in the Tampa Tribune as saying, "Although Sand Pine makes the Dads' Day Lunch an annual event, fathers don't have to wait for a special occasion to have lunch with their children. They can do it any day and many take advantage of that opportunity."

Movie Night Under the Stars was Friday October 2 What a great night! Thank you so much Christine for putting this together! So many families had a great time and really appreciated that the PTA made this available.
Every event we do is truly a team effort... Thanks to so many of you who pitched in to help with so many things, big and small, to make this night a success. Thanks to our administration that supports things like this and appreciates all that PTA can do for the school. Mrs. Yanson was absolutely thrilled with the way things went tonight.

October 2nd Sand Pine a Magician WOWed the crowd! The assembly was full of excitement as students were treated to a special show. With lots of participation from the audience, everyone was at the edge of their seats! Take a look at the pictures.
Brusters Night was September 9th. Mrs. Yanson did her best serving everyone at Brusters during our first Bruster's Night of the year! There were many satisfied customers, and no service complaints! Many thanks to Brusters and Mrs. Yanson! See lots of happy customers here!
Friday, August 28th was our first PTA Bingo Night and PTA General Assembly. The room was filled with bingo anticipation as the new PTA board members were introduced. We had lots of lucky winners and some special bingo callers that night. This popular event would not be possible without our volunteers, as well as our sponsors, MOSI, Wesley Chapel Martial Arts Academy, and Dinosaur World. A Welcome Back Breakfast was sponsored by the PTA on August 22. Teachers took a well-deserved break from preparing their classrooms to enjoyed a delicious meal the Friday before students returned to class. On Wednesday, August 19th, students and parents came to Meet Your Teacher Day to learn more about their new classes, while picking up some new Sand Pine Tshirts and school Supplies. Many thanks go out to the PTA volunteers who spent many hours preparing for this special day! See the pictures here!
Kindergarten Camp was August 3-6! School began early for our new kindergarteners who attended our summer Kindergarten Camp! Our campers had fun while learning all about what it's like to be in "big-kid" school! See all the pictures here!

It was a grand farewell to the 5th Grade Class of 2009! On Wednesday, June 3rd, the last day of school, we had our "clap-out" of the 5th graders. Parents joined in this heartfelt annual tradition of Sand Pine's farewell to the 5th grade class for the last time. Congratulations to our 5th Graders! You will be missed, but not forgotten! The PTA's first family dance was a huge success! All who attended will agree that it was a magical evening filled with dancing feet and a wonderful music. Many thanks to DJ Jay Sheridan for keeping us all on the dance floor. Click on the picture to see more images of the evening!
Bravo to the cast of Willy Wonka! The cast had been rehearsing since February for the May 7th performance of this year's Spring Play and it showed. The 2009 Relay for Life Sand Pine Pirates Team raised over $12,500!!! The most successful year yet! This special event touches many hearts as we raise money for the American Cancer Society. Do you know that Sand Pine logged in 8,700 volunteer hours this year! That is twice the amount of hours needed to earn Sand Pine the Golden School Award for the 10th consecutive year! Volunteers were treated to a special breakfast to celebrate our achievement. Thank you to all our volunteers, especially Mari Blank, our Volunteer of the year winner with over 780 hours!
November 2008 we held our special Reflections Celebration showcasing the work of our talented students. This year's theme was "Wow!" and we had lots of wonderful entries. Our second annual Fall Festival was a huge success! With pumpkin contests, hayrides, games and tons of activities, everyone had a wonderful time. What would Halloween be without Sand Pine's annual Halloween Parade? The administration was on a safari this year followed by lots of very creative goblins, ghouls, and an assortment of characters. This anticipated event never fails to entertain parents and friends, and the students think it's pretty cool as well! Click on the picture to see more images of the day!
