Cutter & BrandonCongratulations to Chess Champs, Cutter and Brandon!
Pasco County held its first Annual Chess Tournament in May sponsored by the Tampa Chess Club. Although Sand Pine does not have an official team, two of our students, Cutter D. and Brandon R. played in the K-3 division. Cutter won 6th Place in the county for K-3, and because we had two students present, we were eligible to compete for a team trophy, and the boys combined scores were high enough to win the 2nd Place Team/School Trophy for the K-3 division! The boys competed against over 100 players from local schools (with actual teams of sometimes 20 plus competitors and chess coaches) so this is a huge accomplishment. The boys presented Sand Pine with their team trophy to place in the school’s trophy cabinet! Awesome job boys!!

The Doodle 4 Goggle competition saw some creative doodles from Sand Pine students! Here's a taste of our finalists. See them all here!
