It was a grand farewell to the 5th Grade Class of 2009! On Wednesday, June 3rd, the last day of school, we had our "clap-out" of the 5th graders. Bravo to the cast of Willy Wonka! The cast had been rehearsing since February for the May 7th performance of this year's Spring Play and it showed. The 2009 Relay for Life Sand Pine Pirates Team raised over $12,500!!! The most successful year yet! This special event touches many hearts as we raise money for the American Cancer Society. Our last PTA General Assembly meeting was combined with a family Bingo Night. Lots of families joined us as we said goodbye to the 2008-09 PTA Board Members and welcomed the 2009-10 Board. Do you know that Sand Pine logged in 8,700 volunteer hours this year! That is twice the amount of hours needed to earn Sand Pine the Golden School Award for the 10th consecutive year! Volunteers were treated to a special breakfast to celebrate our achievement. Thank you to all our volunteers, especially Mari Blank, our Volunteer of the year winner with over 780 hours!
November 2008 we held our special Reflections Celebration showcasing the work of our talented students. This year's theme was "Wow!" and we had lots of wonderful entries. Our second annual Fall Festival was a huge success! With pumpkin contests, hayrides, games and tons of activities, everyone had a wonderful time. What would Halloween be without Sand Pine's annual Halloween Parade? The administration was on a safari this year followed by lots of very creative goblins, ghouls, and an assortment of characters.
